The original track was already quite something in itself. Secret Cinema‘s reinterpretation of SLS‘ “Broken Squares” takes us well and truly down the funky techno road, deftly retaining the glitchy flavour of the original, whilst adding a touch of that old school feeling and successfully delivering a peaktime bomb thats equally at home in either a techno or a tech-house set !  Witness some serious progression, a wickedly wobbling bass and some deliciously broken beats, making this huge track fun and accessible for dancers and DJ’s alike.
Leave your expectations at the door. Mikael Nordgren, AKA Tiger Stripes, well known in techno’s ahead of the curve circles for his massive slamming tunes like ”Eden” or for his tightly wrapped tech-house beats, surprises us, adeptly flirting with dub techno in his awesome reworking of SLS’ “Four To The Floor”. This is a very heavy minimal track, reminiscent more than anything else, of “deep-down-into-dub” artists like Quantec or Marco Furstenberg.  The deeper of the four versions of “Four To The Floor” as released on Ground Factory. It retains the musical atmosphere of the original material while turning it into one of those intense and evocative slow heavy techno moments, with a relaxed mood and a subtle progression.

Perc And Pig And Dan pick up techno where Samuel L.Session left it, only to make it even heavier with two amazing remixes of ”Four To The Floor” – Perc’s remix is a ”Radio Slave meets Chris Liebing” moment of relentless techno, all about reverbs and echoes. This is another one of those tracks with a lot of small elements evolving slowly and becoming at some point so intertwined that anyone would just get lost in it. A mechanical beat made out of some distorted banging sound vaguely evocative of a drum that just goes as deep as techno goes, only to be somewhat softened by the subtle atmospheric waves from the original track that kind of drifted into the remix. A brilliant track, of a new purist kind.
As soon as this DJ-friendly track starts the tight production skills of the Spanish duo Pig And Dan can be recognized. It wanders into the realm of underwater funk and features a wobbling bass coupled with an almost gentle feeling, a peculiar aspect for a track that can undoubtedly be classified as a banger. A robotic rhythm is slowly unveiled in a very clever yet classic framework, with a long breakdown paving the way for an even bouncier beat. A nigh time slammer.

In 1995 and 1996 Dr. Motte and Dicabor (Robert Babicz) came up with two massive releases, namely the “Cologne” ep and the seminal album “Live at the Interference Festival in Chromapark” on one of the then pioneer labels of electronic Berlin, Space Teddy. Now in 2011, here they are back together again with a big new electro floor smasher, “NONO”.

In its original version, it’s a burner, a high quality sizzling slice of electro-acid , destined to push many a peak hour crowd over the top. Not content to stop there, the b-side is an electrifyingly brilliant reworking of “NONO” by Maestro and living legend Mr Thomas P. Heckmann , that masterfully takes the essence of the original and lovingly evolves it into a bang up to date technoid groover that’s sure to find its way into main stage Dj Boxes all over the world. This is the now sound of the legendary team of Dr. Motte and Robert “Dicabor” Babicz, on a mission to reveal the nature of theirs and your mind !
